The DJI Spark is the smallest quadcopter in DJI’s drone range, even smaller than the Mavic, and features a 2-axis stabilised 12MP/Full HD camera. The DJI Spark is easy to transport thanks to a compact size of 143×143×55mm and light weight of 300g. The Spark also introduces new features like QuickShot with four pre-programmed cinematic flight pasterns and PalmControl for remote/mobile free operation. Although the Spark is much smaller than any other DJI drone; it still packs a powerful 12 megapixel / Full HD 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor (Same sensor size as the Mavic), as well as autonomous tracking, obstacle avoidance, a mechanical 2-axis gimbal (pitch & roll), Intelligent Flight modes, and a 50kph flight speed in sport mode. The DJI Spark’s portability, ease of use, and powerful camera, will provide content creators and drone enthusiasts with the creative freedom they require.
DJI Spark Autonomous tracking and FlightAutonomy obstacle avoidance features:
FlightAutonomy obstacle sensing system
The DJI Spark features an obstacle sensing system called FlightAutonomy to keep the drone safe. The FlightAutonomy system in the Spark comprises from the main camera, a vision positioning system (VPS), a 3D sensing system, dual-band GPS, a high-precision inertial measurement unit, and 24 powerful computing cores. This allows the Spark to hover accurately and sense obstacles from up to 5m away.
This obstacle avoidance system works both in outdoor and indoor environments and is activated in every Intelligent Flight Mode including all ActiveTrack modes, TapFly and Terrain Follow. It is also available during automatic Return to Home, so that the DJI Spark can safely get back to you in case of a lost connection or low battery.
ActiveTrack subject follow and framing
The DJI Spark’s ActiveTrack successfully makes autonomous/automatic follow recording a reality. Whether you or your subject are running, cycling, skating, skiing, driving, the Spark uses an advanced combination of computer vision, object recognition, gesture support and machine learning to track as your subject moves. Following and framing a moving object used to only be achievable by the most seasoned and confident of pilots, now thanks to completely autonomous following everyone can do it. ActiveTrack features two modes; Trace and Profile. Trace mode tracks your subject from in front or behind, or even circle around it. In Profile mode the Spark follows your subject from a fixed perspective. The entire time ActiveTrack is running obstacle avoidance is too, so it will decide whether it should continue following, avoid an obstacle or simply stop.
You dont have to manually fly the DJI Spark, TapFly takes over all of these controls for you leaving you to focus on your shot. Using TapFly mode, all you have to do to is tap on the screen of your smartphone or tablet and the Spark will fly there. To change the direction of flight, you can simply tap the screen to fly anywhere. Using its Flight Autonomy Obstacle Sensing System, the DJI Spark can fly places you might not have gone before, to create dynamic and inspiring footage.
QuickShot: cinematic videos with a tap
The DJI spark introduces a new feature called QuickShots. Quickshots features four pre-programmed cinematic flight patterns to help you shoot dynamic videos. Patterns include: Rocket, in which the drone ascends with the camera pointing downward; Dronie, where the Spark drone flies backward and upward, with the camera locked on your subject; Circle, in which the drone circles around your target; and Helix, where the drone flies upward, spiraling around your subject.
Auto-return home with FlightAutonomy
The DJI Spark features a failsafe auto-return home feature and will automatically return to the exact spot it took-of if it detects that the battery is running low, connection to the controller is lost or if the return home button is pressed. The integration of the FlightAutonomy obstacle sensing system will also safely guide the drone past obstacles.
DJI Spark Drone Features:
Extremely compact and lightweight
No longer do you have to lug around a large backpack or heavy hardcase. The DJI Spark drone can be taken everywhere. It features a compact size of 143×143×55mm and weighs only 300g enabling you carry it unobtrusively.
2 km control and live view range
With the remote controller (not included here, see Fly More Combo) the DJI Spark can be controlled from a range of up to 2km. This will provide ample control distance, encourage exploration, and give you greater confidence and security when flying.
Up to 16 minutes of flight time
An extremely light, compact body and 1480mAh intelligent flight battery gives the DJI Spark drone a flight time of up to 16 minutes, enough time to shoot a daily vlog, race your drone, or just shoot a short family video.
Connects with GPS and GLONASS satellites
The Spark can get data from both GPS and GLONASS satellites. Having access to both greatly improves geographical accuracy and reduces your chances of losing satellite connection.
Sport Mode with a top speed of 50kmph
Sport mode speeds up the Spark for swift and responsive control and enables the drone to reach speeds up to 50kmph.
DJI Spark Camera and Gimbal features:
Full HD video recording at 30 frames per second
The DJI Spark drone features a 12MP camera that can record 1080p Full HD video internally at up to 30 frames per second. The videos are stored internally on a microsd card in MP4 format.
Two-axis stabilising gimbal (Pitch & Roll)
A two-axis stabilising gimbal holds the camera and automatically corrects unwanted pitch and roll flight movement for smooth and professional looking video.
Want to take a selfie, just make a frame with your fingers. Want the Spark to follow you, just raise your arms or wave and the Spark will follow you. The Spark can follow your hand movements or even take off and land on your palm. In Gesture mode the DJI Spark’s vision system can recognize gestures so you can operate the drone remote free.
Good in low light
Great looking low light video recording is made possible by a fast F/2.6 lens and sensor light sensitivity of 100-3200 ISO in video recording.
Easy Camera adjustments
All the camera settings, including ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation, can be set on the DJI Go app.
High Definition Live View with live streaming
A 720p resolution Live View can be streamed from the DJI Spark camera to a compatible smartphone or tablet, and from the device it can even be streamed directly to YouTube using the Go app.
25mm f/2.6 lens
The DJI Spark’s camera features a 25mm (35mm format equivalent) f/2.6 lens. The lens provides a wide field of view with very low distortion, enabling you to capture vast scenery.
